Mental and Emotional Benefits: Lapis Lazuli is thought to enhance intellectual abilities, creativity, and memory. It helps its wearer retain knowledge and improve communication skills. Emotionally, Lapis Lazuli carries positive energy, strengthening the mind and helping to overcome issues related to trauma, depression, or grief. It is also believed to clear the mind, encourage inner hope, and bring about courage.
Physical Healing Properties: Wearing Lapis Lazuli jewelry is believed to relieve anxiety and insomnia and strengthen the immune system. Its dark blue energy enhances respect, compassion, and teaches us humanity, discretion, and honor.
Historical Significance: Some of the finest Lapis Lazuli comes from Afghanistan, particularly from the mountain valley of Kokcha, where it has been mined for over 6,000 years. The rock was historically transported to Egypt and later to Europe, where it was used in jewelry and as a pigment for paint. The expensive powdered pigment, known as Ultramarine, literally means "beyond the sea." Since the 19th century, Ultramarine has been synthetically manufactured. Lapis Lazuli is also recognized as the traditional birthstone for September.
